Aviation

The aviation industry encompasses airlines, aircraft manufacturers, airports, and related services involved in air transportation. It facilitates global connectivity, tourism, and freight logistics, driven by technological advancements, safety regulations, and economic factors. It plays a crucial role in international trade, tourism, and emergency response, shaping global mobility and economic interconnectedness.

The Aviation facility roofs

Following the catastrophic effects of COVID-19, the aviation landscape has changed dramatically. There is now a huge focus on sustainability and minimizing environmental impacts, along with significant technological advancements. Additionally, there has been substantial investment in the expansion of infrastructure and capacity to adapt to the evolving demands of the industry.

The critical nature of Aviation facilities isn’t just limited to the airport and its terminals, but includes buildings with functions such as maintenance facilities, administrative buildings, training facilities, storage and logistical buildings and specialised facilities such as Customs and Immigration and other security related assets.

The Aviation facility roof is its first line of defence against major risks caused by the environment, chemicals, foot traffic due to roof maintenance and more. Compromises to the roof can result in safety risks, security risks, economic impact and operational chaos.

Our approach

MOY have delivered innovative, sustainable and robust waterproofing solutions to the Aviation sector throughout Ireland and the UK for over 35 years, protecting the sectors leading facilities and ensuring its daily functions aren’t disrupted. Moy’s oldest airport project, previously known as the  jumbo hanger at Dublin airport, is still functioning to this day after a refurbishment over 35 years ago.

Our approach to this sector is based upon early design engagement. Involving client design teams in the critical pre-construction process increases the chance of arriving at a suitable proposal that, not only meets the design requirements but also meets the clients project specific criteria.  By assessing four critical elements of Buildability, Building Lifecycle, Commercial Viability and the Design of the roof space, it allows us to scope and deliver a fully functionable roof that fulfils the client’s requirements.
